Show No 4:

WOMEN of the WAVES – Heroines

……..::::::::::: POSTPONED :::::::::::……..

We have bad news and wonderful news. Medicine before treats, so bad news first.

We must postpone Sunday’s show. There are more than a few reasons: the expected wet cold weather, the holiday hustle and bustle, the recession that had direct effects on families and individuals already, and our Beloved Storyteller and family are recovering from COVID, and made Tamas’ mind foggy and hard to concentrate…

We will move our show to a January date when we can all relax and enjoy ourselves together. More information will come soon. All tickets will be valid for the show, but of course, you can also ask us to refund them.

But … the absolutely gorgeous news is:

We’d love to bless your season of giving by gifting you a beautiful short story to warm your hearts.
Please join us at the same place, same time, 10am on Sunday, at Napoleon St Park. Head down to the Mariner’s Cottage.

Tamas will tell us a short 15 minutes story while Honey Child will treat you with some sweets. We can say goodbye to the year and share Christmas wishes together.

All are welcome, this event is free, bring whoever you wish!

We look forward to the warmth of fellowship at our Jan event.
See you on Sunday,
LalinRòka

Stories ~ Music ~ Feasting

Date: January 2023 – to be confirmed

Napoleon Street Park/Playground – 42 Napoleon St, Battery Point

The event consist of a 70 minutes spoken word performance of Tamas Oszvald storyteller, accompanied by three musicians. The main concept of the show is to create an immersive experience, therefore our well known chef, Honeychild will curate a three-course picnic style Creole menu that you are going to eat with the stories. The food is to punctuate the narrative, to taste the sweetness of happiness, the bitterness of sadness, the sharpness of courage and the umami of hope…

LalinRoka’s 4th show will close the narrative circle of performances based on the four archetypes: Lovers, Shapeshifters, Tricksters and Heroes/Heroines. We feel privileged for the great support of our art patrons, audience members, musicians and other collaborators we worked through the last year.

Our next show is going to be a treat. Women who went against the conventions, females who sought out to do life differently by force, by luck or by their own choice. Heroines of wisdom, courage, healing and determination.

This show will be produced with the support of the Wooden Boat Guild of Tasmania, Battery Point Community Hall and Hobart City Council.

When we tested our idea to run a show outdoors on Sunday, 10am, the people we talked to said: “that is a crazy! But can work…” And that was enough for us to take it as a YES!

Prepare yourself for a picnic style show, bring your blanket or just merge your body in to the grass, wander and daydream while watching the clouds or the sea, listening to the stories and music and feeling the taste of Honeychild’s magic.

This is not a children show, however everyone is welcomed who can sit and listen to a 70 minutes show without disturbing the other audience members. If you ask us, we would suggest 8 years old and older…

Seating for elderly people will be provided. Toilet access: Mariner’s Cottage (provided by the Wooden Boat Guild of Tasmania).

(Bad weather venue: Battery Point Community Hall, 52 Hampden Road, Battery Point).

ABOUT THE MUSIC

We never rehearse the whole show with the musicians. We discuss and try dynamics, motives and sequences. Spoken word as Tamas does, is an always changing narrative flow, that is created on the spot, with the “things” present at the time of the telling: audience, music, food, smell, touch, the sky, the breeze, you name it… For such uncertainty, you need brave and free-spirited companions who are happy to jump with the story…

Dorianne has toured with the Dreaming Tree nationally and internationally at Sölhalla Festival in Sweden. She has also performed with The Chant Cartel, Melbourne, Second Echo Ensemble – Illuminate, Launceston, using her voice to weave and play alongside fellow artists and musicians. Sound and it’s counter part deep listening have become a way of life, a vehicle to hear the unheard and unknown; giving voice and expression from a place of trust and surrender.
